Twenty over rated films from the last ten years

There have been great film & terrible films released in the last ten years (2003 – 2013). However some films have been well revived by many critics & audiences alike. Twenty of these i believe are very over hyped & while not terrible films, are over rated.

(There is no ranking for these)

Finding Nemo (2003)

Centering around a fathers search for his lost son & set within the Austrian ocean. While having its fun moments, its certainly not as great as most would say & is one of Pixar,s weakest films.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004)

Following a relationship between two people, one decides to remove all traces of the other. This leads to conflict between the two, while other events take place. Believed by many as Jim Carrey,s best performance, while he is fine, the film is nothing memorably.

Zodiac (2006)

An interesting story, telling the mystery of the true events of the Zodiac killer. While the cast is fine & has a good plot, its really drawn out & slow.

No Country For Old Men (2007)

While the acting is good, i was very underwhelmed as the story takes far to long to get going & your not very invested in any characters fate.

Iron Man (2008)

While the first movie in the Marvel Avengers series, started something great, this does not have the charm of what is to follow. While Iron Man 3 exceeded my expectations, this is just average.

The Hangover (2009)

Four friends travel to Las Vegas, NV for a bachelor party, where drunken events take place. Sometimes funny, but after more than one viewing it gets really bland.

Avatar (2009)

The highest grossing film in history (so far). Humans inhabit an alien race called the Navi on the planet Pandora. While visually impressive, it looks like a video game & is the classic tale of style over substance.

Watchmen (2009)

While being a fan of Zack Snyder,s work, most recently the great Man Of Steel. Along with 300, Dawn Of The Dead & even Sucker Punch looked visually great. This however is dark, brooding, overly long & far more depressing than it should be.

Winters Bone ( 2010)

An award winning film, with get acting from Jennifer Lawrence. The film is so slow & really depressing however & is just not entertaining to watch.

The Social Network (2010)

While great acting from most & an interesting true story, it loses its viewing enjoyment multiply times.

Blue Valentine (2010)

While i really enjoyed the directors other work (Place Beyond The Pines) This is so slow & really depressing.

Adventureland (2010)

Billed as a comedy, there is little that’s funny here or entertaining for that matter. Talented actors are wasted by bad material

Get Him To The Greek (2010)

The spin of film to Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2009) focus on Russell Brand, is crude, lewd unfunny & not a fun time to watch.

Super 8 (2011)

While the use of a super 8 camera in the plot is fun to see, its almost a direst rip of from the far better Cloverfield (2008)

Moneyball (2011)

Another good acting piece, but nothing is very memorably. This years 42 is a far better baseball movie.

50/50 (2011)

Joseph Gordon Levitt is great as a canser victim, however Seth Rogan is terribly miscast & the film would have been so much better without him.

Brave (2012)

Another disappointing Pixar film. The first half is entertaining, but it turns into a weak children s film, with no clear villain.

Looper (2012)

An plot line which had intrigue to it, despite this its terribly underwhelming. Something which belongs on cable

The Sessions (2012)

Another award winner, acting is fine here & there’s nothing wrong, but undeserving of all the awards where other films where more deserving.

Mud (2013)

Many believe the acting is outstanding here, its fine but no where near than high a level. It has its emotional moments but does not stick anything more than an average time at the movies.
